Can technology, crowd-funding, and branding change a small town? How?

This is a collaborative experiment in the effects of the above mentioned on a small town and the community it serves.

Should We Change?

Changing The Future

Why Change?
Why change? Why not!

Why make a change? Or, why conduct this experiment? As to the first, we have no choice but to make a change as change is all around us. As to the second, we were curious if we can be part of change, in a meaningful, positive and contributive manner.

Tech/Brand
Technology and Branding

The two elements of change that seem to be most consequential

Technology is merely the tool that enables certain areas of change (e.g., communication, information dissemination, etc.), but can also be a big part of change (e.g., education, entertainment, manufacturing, etc.).

Branding is a way to anchor a story, a starting point, a way to create an identity.

We have branded the experiment, but by no means is this brand for the city. That is something the community will have to decide, and in the end, there may be many or none, or the panther.

Destination
A Place to Live and Visit People as neighbors and
People as visitors

Can we affect the flow of people who wish to live amongst us, and how do we control and manage the flow of people that want to visit the area? Should we?

Our take is that we should in every way predict, control, manage, and prepare for the impending growth and flow of people in our community.

Problems
Things that could go wrong

Things always go wrong. Plan for success and plan for failures. But plan!

The nature of change and growth is beset by “bumps in the road.” But a well thought-out plan can help us anticipate and allow time to prepare, and to help change strategy and tactics.

Mitigation
Prepare to mitigate

Plans and preparation can only do so much before a problem actually hits us. Mitigation strategies that are in place, and agreed upon beforehand, are keys to minimizing the effects of “the bad”, “the problem”, “the issue”, or whatever people argue about calling it.

The biggest failures in a plan are “what to do when…” and the paralysis that always occurs resulting from a problem.
